This sustainable home is nestled into the hills of Akaroa, where the occupants enjoy stunning views of Akaroa Harbour in absolute comfort.

Incorporating the Foreverbreathe system, which is comprised of natural materials, the home manages indoor humidity while providing occupants with clean air through the use of low toxin, natural building materials. Because sustainability was a driver for design, specifications include a timber foundation, solid timber floors, timber cladding, triple glazed timber windows, wool insulation and Magnum Board linings and RAB board.

This beautiful home is solar powered and is completely off the grid. The Pyroclassic log burner with cooktop oven kit and wetback makes the most of readily available firewood and is easily sufficient to warm the whole home on the coldest of winter nights.

Energy efficiency is enhanced by the Foreverbreathe system. Foreverbreathe utilises a combination of wool insulation, Magnum Board linings & RAB, LVL framing and natural no-toxin paint to provide a comfortable living environment that isn’t reliant on ongoing operation of mechanical ventilation.

This home was awarded the Sustainable Lifestyle award and a gold medal in the 2023 Registered Master Builders House Of the Year Awards.
