RAVE’s Scheduling Updates 7th December 2022

We’ve released a number of new improvements and features to RAVE’s Scheduling systems – so let’s have a look at these in more detail starting with…

---

Faster Schedule Page Loading Times

This speed improvement update applies to both the Task List and Gantt views. This means that when loading or refreshing these pages the speed has improved.

---

Adding Predecessors + Successors via the Edit Task Modal

A big update to Advanced and Enterprise Scheduling, is the ability to add, edit and delete both Successors and Predecessors via the new Task Details ‘Links’ tab.

To add a Successor and/or Predecessor:

  1. We first need to access the 'Task Details' pop-up via the
    - Pencil icon to the right of a task in the Task List view
    - Or by double clicking on a task description, or the task gantt block of a task in the Task Gantt view
  2. From the Task Details pop-up, we click on the ‘Links’ tab
  3. Here, you can choose to add a link from a predecessor back to your selected task, or a link from your selected task to a successor
    - Selecting the target task (the one you want to create a link with) from either the Predecessor or Successor dropdown
    - Set the link type (Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish)
    - Then add in your Lag time – the delay, or gap, between one task to the next
  4. You can add additional links by clicking on the ‘Add Link’ button
  5. You can delete links no longer required via the red trash can to the right of each link
  6. Once you’re done creating your links for this task – just click NEXT/SAVE to confirm

---

Adding a Constraint via the Edit Task Modal

In a similar fashion, the Enterprise Scheduling’s Constraints are now managed on a separate ‘Constraints’ tab too.

To add a Constraint type and date:

  1. We again need to access the 'Task Details' pop-up via the
    - Pencil icon to the right of a task in the Task List view
    - Or by double clicking on a task description, or the task gantt block of a task in the Task Gantt view
  2. From the Task Details pop-up, we click on the ‘Constraints’ tab
  3. From here you’ll decide what type of constraint you need to load – the default is As Soon As Possible, but you also have As Late as Possible, Start No Earlier Than, Start No Later Than,  Finish No Earlier Than, Finish No Later Than, and Must Start on
  4. Select a Constraint date (not required for As Soon As Possible/As Late As Possible)
  5. And click NEXT/SAVE to confirm

NOTE: If you no longer need a constraint date loaded against your task, just change the constraint to As Soon As Possible – and that will negate the date previously loaded.

---

NEW taller Task Gantt view

The task gantt view has been made taller - to display more rows of tasks than available previously.

Tip: if you click on any task description to the left of the Task Gantt display – RAVE will shuffle the view to bring that task’s portion of the gantt chart into view

---

Colour Coding added to the schedule’s Task Calendar view

RAVE’s ‘Task Status’ colour coding has been added to the schedule’s Task Calendar view – allowing you to see task progress just like the Task Gantt view.

---
